WHERE WE'RE LOCATED

Pet Shampoos Direct is located in Bryson City, North Carolina which is in the western part of the state some 65 miles west of Asheville. It is adjacent to the Nantahala National Forest and although we are literally only about 2 miles from the southwestern rim of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, "The Heart of the Great Smoky Mountains", geologically speaking Bryson City is actually considered to be within the Blue Ridge Mountains. The "Blue Ridge" is the most superior ridge of the southern Appalachians. Maybe you have heard of, or even driven on, the Blue Ridge Parkway?

The Great Smoky Mountains & the Blue Ridge Mountains are regions of the Appalachian mountain chain, perhaps the oldest mountains in the world. It is a place of great beauty that includes mountain lakes, whitewater rivers, waterfalls, deciduous forests and a diversity of other plant life as well as wildlife. It is the inspiration for the Smoky Mountains Naturals & Conundrum Pet Products pet bathing collections.

HOW I ENDED UP HERE

I had been through this part of the country with my family as a young boy and knew even then that there was something special about the Great Smoky & Blue Ridge Mountains. In 1990 I came to the Bryson City area to try some whitewater kayaking.

Over the next several years, as I would repeatedly visit this area, I began to consider the possibility of relocating here. However Bryson City is a very small, somewhat remote, rural mountain town. The economy is sparse and making a living was the challenge. So in 1995 I began a concerted effort to develop a "mail order" style business that would provide value priced quality supplies to professional pet groomers & kennel owners with great emphasis on personal service.

MY SHAMPOO BLENDING PHILOSOPHY

Eventually I began creating the Smoky Mountains Naturals & Conundrum Pet Products recipes. My philosophy for these collections has simply been combining gentle & effective ingredients, including many natural components. I'm very proud that the recipes take into consideration the health & comfort of the bather as much as that of the pets they are being applied to.

In a nutshell, my clients are for the most part professionals that desire to have in their shops very unique, gentle, effective, value priced pet bathing products that in turn allow them to offer to their clients a very special, unique, quality grooming experience.

AFTER ALL THESE YEARS

Pet Shampoos Direct is now in its 29th year of business and I have over the years always performed all service for my clients personally, even & especially packing their orders. Clients like that they can speak directly to the company owner when they call. I often joke, professing that not only am I the CEO but I am also the janitor and everything in between.

I plan to keep the company small and continue to focus on personal service, value pricing, some mainstream items but especially unique pet bathing recipes that make the pet grooming professional's job easier with notably greater results.
